The Mentor girls track teams scored 75.50 points to win the Region 1 Division 1 track tournament at Austintown Fitch last night. Shaker Heights was 2nd with 55 points. Notable performances were turned in by Claire Dunn of Shaker Heights who won the 200 and the 400 meter dashes, Savannah Dennison of Mentor won the 1600 meter run and was 2nd in the 800.
On the boys side, the meet championship came down to the 4 x 400 meter relay. Going in GlenOak had a 7 point lead over Solon. Both had teams in the 4 x 400 relay. As it turned out, Solon finished 2nd and GlenOak 5th-enough to give GlenOak the championship with 44 points. Top performances were turned in by Noah Johnson of Hoover who set a record in the 1600 meter run of 4:10.97; he also won the 800 in 1:54.30. Nick Beiga of Mayfield won the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Tom Rice of GlenOak won the 3200 meter run and was 2nd in the 1600.
