Day 1 Starts off with Minster Girls and Fort Loramie Boys winning D3 4×800 titles

On a day with picture perfect weather for Track and Field, the day started off with victories in the 4×800 relay for the girls from Minster and the boys from Fort Loramie.

The quartet of Margaret Hemmelgarn, Cameo Cedarleaf, Chaney Cedarleaf and Taylor Roth captured the gold medal for the Minster girls in a time of 9:28.67.  They dropped 11 seconds off of their time from the Regionals.  Fort Loramie was the runner-up.

On the boys side, you had Colin Gasson, Frank Rethman, Trey Ranly and Colten Gasson bringing home first place for the Redskins.  Their time of 7:53.18 dropped 18 seconds off of their time from Regionals.  East Canton was the runner-up.

As if those events weren’t exciting enough, in the first semi-final of the day, Colonel Crawford’s Katie Ruffener broke the all-time Division 3 girls 100 meter hurdles record with a time of 13.87.  Her time is ranked in the top 50 in the country (according to MileSplit).
