St. Thomas Aquinas captures both girls and boys State Track Titles

The St. Thomas Aquinas track teams pulled off a feat that is rarely accomplished. Both the girls and boys teams became State Champions. They started off strong with wins in the 4×800 meter relays on Friday, and finished it off with more strong performances on Saturday. For the girls team it was their second consecutive State Championship, and they did it in dominating fashion. 5 first place finishes, 2 relays (4×800 and 4×200) and 3 individual titles (Athena Welsh in the 1600 and 3200, Kalee Soehnlen in the 800). Rachel Adams place 4th in the 200 and the 4×400 relay also placed 4th. It was a great performance by the Lady Knights.

They boys ended up with 2 first place finishes (4×800 and Jacob Caniford in the 1600). And then they added points in the 100 (Andrew George was 4th), the 4×200 relay which was 4th and the 800 (Jacob Paul was 3rd).

Congratulations to the St. Thomas Aquinas Knights on a historic accomplishment.
