Salem Boys and Girls Win at F.E. Cope Invitational

The Salem boys and girls track teams captured team titles at the F.E.Cope track and field invitational at Salem high school Friday night. The Salem boys team scored 144 points to runner-up Coventry’s 89 points. Was conducted under terrible rain conditions and the athletes who did participate are commended for their stamina. Manny Perez from Holland was the boys running MVP. Manny captured the 200 m final in a time of 22.78. Manny also was second in the 400 m dash with a time of 52.20. On the boys field event side, Dominic Perry of Crestview gained MVP laurels winning both the shot and discus. Dominic’s shotput throw was 51 feet 5 1/4 inch. His discus tossed was 154’7″.

On the girls side, the Salem ladies captured the team trophy scoring 151 ½ points. Youngstown East was second with 101 points. The running MVPs both scored 22.50 points. Jahniya Bowers of East high school capture the 200 m dash and the 400 m dash and ran a leg on the winning 4 x 200 m relay. Her time in the 200 m dash was 27.33 and her time in the 400 was 1:02 .55. Haley Rozeski of Salem, who shared MVP running honors one the 800 m run, the 3200 m run, and ran a leg on the first place 1600 m relay. Her time in the 800 was 2:31.51, her time in the 3200 m run was 11:54.27.  Complete Meet Results
