The Twinsburg girls track team garnered 98.33 points to win the 37th Annual Optimist Track & Field Meet at Austintown Fitch Saturday. Stow-Monroe Falls was 2nd with 77 points. Lauren Jones, senior from Garretsville Garfield walked away with the field MVP award and also the award for high points (22). The girls running MVP was Alexis Cunningham of East Palestine. Jones won the discus with a throw of 152′ 4″, was third in the long jump, 15′ 7.5″, and was third in the shot put 38′ 4.25″. Cunningham won the 1600 meter run 5:22.94 and was third in the 800 2:29.49.
On the boys side, Austintown Fitch won the boys title scoring 100 points, Wadsworth was 2nd with 80 points. Travis Moore of Marietta was the MVP in the running events and also took home the high points trophy with 22 points. Moore won the 110 high hurdles (14.90), the 300 hurdles (39.23) and was a member of the 2nd place 1600 relay. Stone Johnson was the boys field MVP. He was 2nd in the long jump (20′ 2.25″), and tied for 2nd in the high jump (6’00”).
