On the nicest track day of the year so far the Medina Highland girls and boys track teams scored impressive wins at the Aurora Greenmen Invitational. The girls scored 188.5 points to capture the title. Azsah Bradley of Ravenna set a record in the 100 meter dash in route to the MVP trophy. Her time of 12.41 broke her record set in 2017. The girls 4 x 200 relay team from Highland set the meet record in the 4 x 200 meter relay of 1:46.46 (old record was 1:48.00 set by Aurora in 2000). That team included Amanda Orban, Alexa Sposit, Emily Lyon and Jhoni Erviv. Ravenna’s 4 x 100 meter relay also set a record at 50.98 bettering the mark of 51.18 set by Highland in 2015. That quartet included Jatia Caples, Jasmine Pooler, Juliana Lambert and Azsah Bradly. Kaylie Kenne, the junior from Highland set a new mark in the 3200 as she ran an impressive 11:04.65. She had set the record last year at 11:18.06. Her goal this year she tells me is to get to 10:46 or thereabouts. Another record-setting performance was turned in by Brianna Rawlings, the freshman from Aurora. Of her 4 attempts, 3 were fouls but on her second attempt she jumped 18′ 1.5″ to crsu the old record of 16′ 6″ set in 2012 by Christa D’Egidio of Dover.
On the boys side, Highland scored 159 points to win their title. Aurora was 2nd with 108.5 points. All in all a great night for track and field.
