East Girls, Copley Boys Win Team Titles at 24th Poland Invitational

The Youngstown East Girls team scored 79 points to edge their host school Poland girls 71.50 to win the 24th Poland Invitational. Jahniya Bowers of East and Miranda Stanhope of Badger shared running MVP honors. Bowers won the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Stanhope won the  3200 and the 1600 meter runs. DeShante Allen of Youngstown East was the Iron Bulldog winner for the girls accumulating 22.50 points in the meet. Allen won the 100 hurdles, the long jump and was a member of the winning 4 x 200 meter relay. On the boys side, Copley boys scored 88 points to out pace 2nd place McDonald 70 to win the boys title. Tobias Hayes was the running MVP and the Iron Bulldog winner scoring 21 points in the meet. He won the 110HH, was 2nd in the 200 meter dash, and ran a leg on the 3rd place 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relays. Zach Gray of McDonald was the field events MVP. He won the discus and was 2nd in the shot put. Aiden Hall of Struthers was a double winner taking the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Only meet record set was by Dylan Huff of Crestview. He jumped 21′ 2.5 ” to break the mark set by Michael Gibson of Chaney in 2005 (21′ 1″).
