CVCA Boys, Twinsburg Girls Win Track Titles at 23rd Poland Invitational

On a day that started out with rain and cold and ended on just plain cold athletes from more than 39 schools braved the elements to participate in the 23rd Poland Invitational. On the girls side the Twinsburg girls led by MVP and Iron Bulldog winner Nya Bussey scored 103 points to win the girls title. The Twinsburg girls swept the spring relays winning the 4 x 100 in 49.97, the 4 x 200 in 1:45.70 and the 4 x 400 relay in 4:14.93. Nya Bussey the junior who was a state qualifier in the 100 and 200 last year won the Iron Bulldog award for the most overall points scored in the meet (23) and the running high points award with 23 points. She won the 100 meter dash in 12.25, was 2nd in the 200 meter dash 25.65, and anchored the winning 4×100 and 4×400 relays. The girls field high points award went to Caitlyn Marx of Salem.She won the discus with a throw of 144′ 5″ and was 3rd in the shot put 36′ 5.75″ to edge Izzy Kline of Newton Falls for the high points award. Kline won the shot put and was 4th in the discus. Both girls are in the top of the Ohio list for the shot and discus. On the boys side, CVCA scored 84 points to out-pace Salem for the boys title. Salem was 2nd with 51.5 points. The boys high point running award went to Devin Moore of Badger who won the 100 HH in 15.40 and the 300 hurdles in 41.35. The Iron Bulldog award went to CVCA’s Tre Tucker who scored 28.50 points. He won the 100 in 10.85, the long jump 20′ .75″, was 3rd in the 200 (23.25) and was a member of the 1st place 4×400 relay team. The boys field events high point award went to Kyle Jornigan of Cardinal Mooney who was 2nd in the discus (141′ 9″) and 2nd in the shot put (49′ 1.75″).
