Boardman Girls, Boys Win at East Palestine’s William E. Ward Invitational

In perhaps was the best weather day for track and field, the Boardman High School boys and girls track teams won championship laurels at the William E. Ward Invitational track & field meet Saturday. The girls team scored 130 points to edge Poland Seminary 124. The meet title actually came down to the 4 x 400 meter relay.  Boardman girls finished 1st 4:16.03 Poland finished 2nd 4:17.44. Outstanding performances were turned in by Teddi Kinsey of Beaver Local. She was selected the girls running MVP. She won the 100 hurdles (16.26), the 300 hurdles (48.48) and was 4th in the 200 meter dash (27.97). The girls field event MVP award went to Faith Hoobler of Edison She won the shot put(35′ 9″) and the discus (117′ 5″). Gianna Stanich of Poland Seminary was a double winner taking the 1600 meter run (5:29.71) and the 3200 meter run ( 12:15.18). On the boys side Boardman racked up 112 points to outdistance Crestview (85). The boys running MVP was Ethan Powell of Crestview. He was 1st in the 200 meter dash (22.66), 2nd in the 100 meter dash (11.09), and was a member of the 1st place 4 x 100 meter relay (44.10) and the 1st place 4 x 200 meter relay (1:30.84). The field events MVP went to the fine senior performer Dominic Perry of Crestview who won the shot put (56′ 9″) and was 2nd in the discus (136′ 9″).   Complete Meet Results
