Austintown Fitch Boys, Girls Claim Mahoning County Track Titles

Rob Ruan Award Winner Mitchel Dunham of Boardman # 12 Wins 3200 m

DIVISION 1: Austintown Fitch boys and girls were victorious on their home track as both claimed Mahoning County track & field championships. The boys team scored 167 points to runner up Boardman (138) to win the championship. East was 3rd with 73.50 points. Division 1 Rob Ruan (MVP) winners were Mitchel Dunham of Boardman and DeShante Allen of Youngstown East. Dunham won the 1600 meter run in 4:31.57, the 3200 in 10:02.80 and ran a leg on the 1st place 4 x 800 relay team 8:38.32. Allen won the  100H in 16.38, was 3rd in the 300 hurdles, won the long jump 16′ 2.5″ and was a member of the 1st place 4 x 200 relay.

On the girls side, Austintown Fitch girls edged Boardman girls 160.50 to 153. The only meet record in division 1 was set in the girls pole vault by Madison Skelly of Austintown Fitch. She vaulted 10′ 6″ to set a new standard. The old record was set in 2009 by Ashlee Frazzini of Boardman at 10′ 4″.

DIVISION 2: Springfield Local boys and girls were winners in division 2. The boys led by Rob Ruan winner Garrett Walker scored 146.50 points to South Range 123 to claim the boys title. The Springfield girls scored 160 points to runner up South Range 101. As stated, Garrett Walker of Springfield won the 100 meter dash (11.07), the 200 meter dash (22.32 wind aided), the 400 meter dash (51.46) and anchored the winning 4 x 400 relay (3:43.47). The only meet record set in division 2 was set by the Valley Christian boys 4 x 100 meter relay team. That quartet of Brandon Paige, Tyrone Lindsay, Lohron Brown and Damon Christian ran 45.04 to erase the old mark set in 2013 by Ursuline of 45.11. 

On the girls side, Maddy Owen of Western Reserve was the Rob Ruan winner. She won the 100 hurdles in 17.07, the 300 hurdles in 50.08, the long jump 13′ 10.25″ and was a member of the 1st place 4 x 400 meter relay team(4:29.06). The Springfield girls scored 160 points to out pace South Range 101.
